You can capture a specific area of the screen into a video by using the “Box Area” recording function.
Preparation for Recording
To use “Box Area” recording function, you should pop up the box area window first.
1) Prepare recording by the “Box Area” button.
- Select the “Video” tab of the Dr.Capture window.
- Press the “Box Area” button.
- Adjust the size and position of the box area window.
2) Prepare recording by the hot key. (default hot key ‘Ctrl + Alt + 3’)
- Press the”Box Area” hot key.
- Adjust the size and position of the box area window.

Auto Framing
You can adjust the size of the box area window automatically by using the “Auto Framing” function when you want to record a specific program’s window.
- Click the gunsight icon of the box area window and drag the icon over the target window that you want to record.
- Drop the icon to the target window, then the box area window is automatically moved and resized.
- You can cancel “Auto Framing” by pressing the ESC key while dragging.
If the target window is too close to the edge of the monitor or out of the monitor, “Auto Framing” may not work.
Start Recording
You can start “Box Area” recording in three ways.
1) Start recording by the “Box Area” button of the Dr.Capture window.
- Select the “Video” tab of the Dr.Capture window.
- Click the “Box Area” button after adjusting the box area window, then the “Capture Wizard” window will pop up.
- Set the quality of video and select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ for capturing of the cursor and the sound on the Wizard window.
- Click the ‘Start’ button of the Wizard window to start recording.
2) Start recording by the “Record” button of the box area window.
- Click the “Record” button of the box area window, then the “Capture Wizard” window will pop up.
- Set the quality of video and select ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ for capturing of the cursor and the sound on the Wizard window.
- Click the “Start” button of the wizard window to start recording.
3) Start recording by the hot key. (default hot key ‘Ctrl + Alt + 3’)
In case of using the hot key, recording starts immediately without popup of the wizard window, and the previous recoding setup values will be used as the recording setup values. If the hot key doesn’t work, see here.
The various information such as recording method, recording file size, recording resolution, recording time and the recording control buttons will be displayed on the Dr.Capture window after recording start. You can’t move or resize the box area window while recording is in progress.
Pause / Resume Recording
To pause recording, click the “Pause” button of the Dr.Capture window or the box area window.
To restart recording, click the “Resume” button of the Dr.Capture window or the box area window.
You can also pause recording by pressing the “Box area” hot key and resume recording by pressing the “Box area” hot key again.
Stop Recording
You can stop “Box Area” recording in three ways.
1) Click the “Stop” button of the Dr.Capture window.
2) Click the “Stop” button of the box area window.
3) Press the capture-stop hot key. (default hot key ‘Ctrl + Shift + Alt + 0’)
Closing the Box Area Window
You can close the box area window in two ways.
1) Click the “close” button of the box area window.
2) Press the capture-stop hot key. (default hot key ‘Ctrl + Shift + Alt + 0’)
Game Recording
You can record a game running in windowed mode with the “Box Area” recording function. but we recommend you try the “Window” recording first to record a game running in windowed mode before trying with the “Box Area” recording. If the “Window” recording couldn’t record properly the game, then try “Box Area” recording.
When a game runs in full screen mode, you can record gameplay into a video by pressing the “Window” recording hot key or the “Desktop” recording hot key.

Recorded File
The recorded file is created in the format of
“Video Save Folder \ Capture Date \ BoxAreaSerialNumber.mpg”.
Ex) C: \ Users \ SGKSoft \ Videos \ DrCapture \ 2012-07-18 \ BoxArea0001.mpg

Action After Capture
You can select one of followings for an action which be executed automatically after capture.
1) Play the recorded file with Media Player.
2) Open the folder which contains the recorded file with Explorer.
3) No action.
